About the Role:
Square Steel Pty Ltd is currently hiring experienced Welders to join our growing structural steel fabrication team in South Australia. We are looking for both onshore applicants (currently residing in Australia) and qualified international candidates seeking employer sponsorship. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity within a safe, well-established Australian company that delivers high-quality structural steel for commercial and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG, flux-core, and stick welding (GMAW/FCAW/SMAW) on a range of structural steel components.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication plans.
- Weld structural elements including beams, columns, and trusses to AS/NZS 1554.1 standards.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds and assemblies.
- Operate and maintain welding and fabrication equipment in good condition.
- Adhere to all Work Health & Safety (WHS) standards and follow Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- Cooperate with fabrication and fitting teams to meet production targets and quality requirements.
Requirements (Onshore & Offshore Applicants):
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or overseas equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in structural steel fabrication and workshop welding.
- Ability to pass practical weld tests in various positions (fillet and groove welds).
- Familiarity with AS/NZS welding standards and fabrication tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality workmanship.
For Overseas Applicants:
- Must meet Australian skills assessment requirements (e.g. TRA assessment).
- Eligible to apply for a subclass 482 visa or other sponsored work visa.
- English language competency (IELTS or equivalent) may be required.
- Previous experience with Australian or international welding standards preferred.
